Delmarva first baseman Danny Martinez contributed significantly to his team's 3-1 win over the Columbia Fireflies. Martinez, who is tied for 2nd in the SAL in triples with 9, went 3 for 3 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Shorebirds. Delmarva is in second place in the Northern Division with a record of 70-42.

Martinez contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Delmarva in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Martinez took a splitter from Dave Hoffman and stroked the home run to left-center. His 18th home run of the season allowed the Shorebirds to leap in front, 2-1.

Delmarva manager Tom Phillips called it "a darn good win."
