RiverDogs Slap 3-1 Loss on Greensboro
|
Charleston and Greensboro duked it out and the RiverDogs came out victorious.
The bats were silent much of the day at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. But 22-year old right fielder Dylan Bates produced just enough offense to carry the RiverDogs past the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 3-1. Bates went 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and 2 walks. The winning pitcher was Eddie Nunez. His record now stands at 6-7. The right-hander went 6.2 innings, allowing 1 run on 9 hits for the RiverDogs. Jordan Torres recorded his 1st save for Charleston.
With Charleston leading 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Bates hit a run-scoring single off Greensboro hurler Bret Krakau. It was the 104th hit of the season for Bates and put his team ahead, 2-0.
"Getting the win feels nice," said Bates. "More importantly, I had a good game."
With the victory, the RiverDogs record stands at 39-75.
