Power Edge Delmarva in Pitching Duel
|
The Delmarva Shorebirds got a sterling performance from designated hitter Jeremy Zerr, but the West Virginia Power still prevailed, 1-0. Zerr threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. West Virginia reliever Ricky Olague picked up the win to move to 5-6. Jeremy Zerr suffered the loss. Victor Reyes notched his 1st save in 2 chances.
It could have been a different outcome for West Virginia, had it not been for Stuart Steitz, the 22-year old third baseman . Steitz contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put West Virginia up, 1-0.
When asked about his performance after the game, Steitz said: "Like everyone else, I'm just doing my job."
The Power saw their record improve to 21-94.
