The Hickory Crawdads took Greenville pitcher Tyler Trantham's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Fluor Field at the West End. The final score had Hickory getting past the Drive, 5-4. Trantham went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 7. Orestes Abulhe earned the save for Hickory, his 6th of the year. The Crawdads improved their record to 66-49 by beating Greenville.

Hickory used the timely hitting of Justin Mathieu to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Crawdads on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"This was a good win," said Mathieu.
