Augusta Beats Greensboro, 5-2
|
Augusta GreenJackets starter Jeff Young pitched a strong game against the Greensboro Grasshoppers at Lake Olmstead Stadium, leading the GreenJackets to victory, 5-2. The winner was Young. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Evan Rojas. Picking up the save was Aubrey DeLuca, his 20th.
Javier Chabolla had a big 2-run double for the GreenJackets in the bottom of the first inning. With Augusta leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a changeup from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Evan Rojas and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 15th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the GreenJackets ahead, 3-0.
"Jeff did a good job keeping the game under control," said Augusta manager Bill Mercado.
The loss makes Greensboro 38-78.
