The Hickory Crawdads got a marvelous performance from pitcher Joe Krug. The right-hander kept the Charleston offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 4-2 Hickory victory at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. Krug yielded 2 runs over 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 5-2. Ben Longwell earned the save, his 3rd, for the Crawdads.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Joe Posluszny? The 24-year old first baseman Posluszny stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Hickory up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

After the game, Hickory manager Jordan Castro applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.

Hickory is now 61-55.
