Legends Handed 4-1 Loss by Rome
|
The Rome Braves topped the Lexington Legends, 4-1, in South Atlantic League action at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Rome pitcher and Calzada Larga, Panama, native Francisco Caban. The winner was Caban. He threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Santiago Vasquez. Sean Foster was called on to finish, recording his 5th save.
Rome used a well-timed hit by Mike Froman to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Braves ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Francisco works, he fights, and he keeps a good attitude," said Braves manager Tim Helfrich.
Rome is now 61-56, while Lexington is 64-53.
