The Greensboro Grasshoppers took Chris Phillips's best shot and still were able to collect a win at Municipal Stadium. The final score had Greensboro getting past the Suns, 3-2, in 10 innings. Phillips over 7.1 innings allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 9. Dave Rodriguez recorded his 5th save for Greensboro. Despite the win, the Grasshoppers have a lousy 35-83 record.

Victor Ortiz had a direct impact on the outcome. Ortiz contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put Greensboro up, 3-2.

"To become 'battle-tested,'" said Ortiz, "you need to compete in this kind of contest."
