Fireflies Prevail, 2-0, Over Hickory
|
Columbia turned a good effort from starter Gavin Jones into a win over the Hickory Crawdads at L.P. Frans Stadium. The final score was 2-0. Earning his 10th save of the year was Bill Comrie. The Fireflies go to 49-72 with the win.
Columbia used a timely hit from Brandon Skogstad to get the win. The first baseman delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Fireflies on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Gavin gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Columbia skipper Tony Acosta.
