The West Virginia Power had to overcome a good performance from Rome pitcher Jorge Chagoya to claim a 3-1 win at Appalachian Power Park. Chagoya went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Ricky Olague earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. He upped his record to 6-7. With the win, the West Virginia record is 24-98.
Jeremy Root dealt the Braves a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and West Virginia leading 1-0, Root hit a 1-0 changeup for a run-scoring single.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Root.
