Tourists Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
|
The Asheville Tourists beat the Rome Braves, 1-0. Asheville pitcher and Saguenay, Canada, native Bill Larkman led the way. Larkman yielded no runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 3-1. Picking up his 4th save was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Dylan Moffat.
The Tourists got a big at-bat from left fielder Javier Millan. For the game, Millan went 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 10th home run of the season gave Asheville a 1-0 lead.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Tim Helfrich.
Asheville currently is in first place in the Southern Division at 76-47.
