West Virginia Slaps 2-0 Loss on Rome
|
Rome pitcher Manny de Luna gave the Power all they could handle, but in the end, West Virginia left State Mutual Stadium with a win, 2-0. de Luna allowed 2 runs on 4 hits over 6.1 innings. Stephen Hibbs, now 10-5, was credited with the win in 3.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 0. The Power are now 80-44.
Steve Greving had a critical at-bat with one out in the top of the sixth for West Virginia. He came through with a run-scoring single to put West Virginia in front, 2-0.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" West Virginia manager Jose Minera said.
