The Columbia Fireflies picked up a win at NewBridge Bank Park, knocking off the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 6-3. On the mound for Columbia was left-hander William Arce. He played a key role in the triumph. Columbia is in second place in the Southern Division with a record of 68-56.
The Fireflies got a big at-bat from right fielder Eddie Herrera. For the game, Herrera went 1 for 2 with a triple. In the top of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 11th triple of the season gave Columbia a 1-0 lead.
"Obviously, you want to go out there and be good every time out," said Arce. "I take the ball every day with the same mindset."
