Power Lose at Home, 12-3, to Hagerstown
|
The Hagerstown Suns picked up a win at Appalachian Power Park, taking down the West Virginia Power, 12-3. Starting pitcher Elias Valverde was a big reason why. Valverde, now 7-5, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. The Suns now have a mark of 82-42.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Bill Roth? The Hagerstown catcher had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning to put the Suns on top, 1-0. For the game, Roth had 1 double and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"Nice to score a bunch of runs," said Valverde after the game.
