Late Magic Gets Columbia 4-2 Win
|
The Columbia Fireflies got a strong performance from pitcher Julio Rolon, who stymied the Greensboro offense en route to a win, 4-2, at NewBridge Bank Park. The winner in relief was Matt Long. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. He now owns a record of 6-3. Columbia, at 79-46, holds down second place in the Southern Division.
Columbia relied on the hitting of Chad Ammerman to pick up the win. The left fielder ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Fireflies on top, 3-2. For the game, Ammerman had 1 triple and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Ammerman said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
