Tourists Deal Shorebirds 4-1 Setback
Matt Flowers put on a pitching clinic, while helping the Asheville Tourists beat the Delmarva Shorebirds, 4-1. Flowers yielded no runs over 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 1, and struck out 9. His record improves to 11-2. The Tourists improved their record to 77-51 by beating Delmarva.

The Tourists got a big hit from center fielder Doug Armstrong. Facing Delmarva pitcher Danny Spruill in the bottom of the fifth, Armstrong pounded a run-scoring double to right. His 23rd double of the season put the Tourists ahead, 1-0.

"It's good to win," Armstrong told the Asheville Chronicle. "I like to have fun doing it."
