The Greensboro Grasshoppers did just enough to sneak past the Kannapolis Intimidators, 6-5, at NewBridge Bank Park. Greensboro pitcher Francisco Valdez, in particular, had a standout performance. Valdez yielded 3 runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 8-6. Picking up his 3rd save was 22-year old right-handed pitcher Luis Arredondo.

The Grasshoppers got a big at-bat from designated hitter Jesus Robles. For the game, Robles went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Greensboro a 3-0 lead.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Robles. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."

At 61-68, Greensboro is in 6th place in the Northern Division.
