The West Virginia Power topped the Hickory Crawdads, 4-3, with youngster Austin Keller playing a key role. Keller went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times for the Power in the win. Steve Sommer, now 20-5, was credited with the win in 3 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 2. Todd Freeman got credit for the save for West Virginia. It was his 36th of the year.

The Power got a big at-bat from second baseman Ed Cosman. For the game, Cosman went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave West Virginia a 2-0 lead.

"Austin is still learning," said Power manager Jose Minera. "The sky's the limit for him."

The second-place Power are 85-46.
