West Virginia Beaten, 4-2, by Hickory in 10
|
The Hickory Crawdads racked up a win at Appalachian Power Park, bumping off the West Virginia Power, 4-2, in 10 innings. David Shea, who started for Hickory, pitched effectively for his team. Hickory, at 74-59, holds down 4th place in the Northern Division.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Mark DeShazer came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing West Virginia pitcher Todd Freeman, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Hickory on top, 4-2.
"It was terrific getting this win," DeShazer said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
