Pitcher Ross Smolnik was sensational for the Asheville Tourists in his team's 5-0 triumph over the Rome Braves. Smolnik earned the win. The first-place Tourists now have a record of 83-51.

Brandon Peeples had a big 2-run double for the Tourists in the bottom of the third inning. With Asheville leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a changeup from Manny de Luna, who leads the SAL in wins with 13, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 10th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tourists ahead, 3-0.

Peeples called the win "an overall solid one."
