2-0 Loss Extends Lakewood Losing Streak
|
West Virginia took on Lakewood in a contest which featured a pitchers' duel. Ricky Marquez, in particular, was fantastic. The West Virginia left-hander helped his team snag the win, 2-0. The winner was Marquez. He threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Gabe LePage. Jonathan Walls earned the save, his 2nd, for the Power.
West Virginia used a well-timed hit by Mark Tallman to capture the win. The second baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Power ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"Thought I threw pretty well and overall I felt good," said Marquez.
With the win over Lakewood, the Power improved to 88-46.
