Braves Edge Charleston in Pitching Duel
|
The Rome Braves claimed a close win over the Charleston RiverDogs, due in large part to Victor Serrano. The Rome left-hander pitched a great game to secure the 1-0 win. Serrano got the win, improving to 13-3. He gave up 4 hits and walked 3 over 5.2 innings. He allowed no runs. With the win, the Braves hiked their record to 74-60.
Rome went up, 1-0, on Matthew Kucek's 18th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Kucek hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Charleston pitcher Marcos Samaniego shaking his head.
In postgame remarks, Kucek hailed his team's "single-minded focus."
