The Delmarva Shorebirds downed the Hickory Crawdads, 2-0, at L.P. Frans Stadium. Stellar pitching by Matt Parks had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 6th in the SAL in quality starts with 17, handcuffed his opponent all game. Parks, the winner, moves to 7-8. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 3 walks. The Shorebirds are now 81-54.

Justin Stroud, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2108 draft, had a direct impact on the outcome. Stroud contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Delmarva up, 1-0.

"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Delmarva manager Tom Phillips. "That's what Matt is right now."
