The Hickory Crawdads got a superb performance from pitcher Ryan Person. Still, it wasn't enough to beat West Virginia. The Power won the game, 4-2. Person threw 8.0 innings allowing 4 runs. Malik Williams picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. Ryan Person was tagged with the loss. Angel Rascon picked up the save, his 6th.

West Virginia catcher Freddy Castellanos contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the second. With two down, he hit a sinker into center field for a 2-run single. It was his 13th hit of the season and put the Power ahead, 2-0.

"I really like what we did out there today," Castellanos said after the game.

Despite the win, West Virginia still has a godawful 25-110 record.
