Braves Stick RiverDogs with 2-1 Loss
|
Charleston wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Tom Clark, falling to the Rome Braves, 2-1. Clark came in in relief and pitched to 29 batters for the losing team. Brad Dunivent recorded the save for Rome, his 4th of the season. The 4th-place Braves go to 80-55.
The Braves got a big hit from first baseman Nestor Quintanilla. In the bottom of the fifth, Quintanilla pounded a run-scoring double to left. His 12th double of the season put the Braves ahead, 2-1.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Rome skipper Johnny Eierman.
