The Asheville Tourists overcame a pretty good performance by Rome third baseman Matthew Kucek, beating the Braves, 8-7, in 11 innings. Kucek was 2 for 5 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Asheville reliever Tony Flores picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Dave Matlock was saddled with the loss. The win puts the Tourists at 49-86, while the Braves drop to 74-61.

The decisive blow was delivered by Andy Gash in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a 2-run home run off 22-year old right-handed pitcher Dave Matlock to win the game for Asheville. The home crowd went nuts.

"It was bedlam at the end," Gash said.
