Grasshoppers Nudge Past Intimidators, 2-1

NewBridge Bank Park featured a tense pitchers' duel.
The Greensboro Grasshoppers had to weather a strong performance from Kannapolis pitcher Joe Drake before claiming a 2-1 win in 10 innings. Drake went 7.1 innings and allowed no runs. Dave Rodriguez picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 6-8. Jonas Bautista suffered the loss.
With the game on the line, Omar Rivas came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. And the Greensboro designated hitter came through, cracking a run-scoring single off Jonas Bautista, the Kannapolis pitcher.
In postgame comments, Rivas said he was glad to contribute to an exciting win.
The Grasshoppers, at 44-91, sit in 6th place in the Northern Division.
