The Columbia Fireflies topped the Greensboro Grasshoppers, 10-0, in South Atlantic League action at Spirit Communications Park. The standout performance belonged to Columbia designated hitter and Ferndale, Michigan, native Steve Brooks. The save went to Mike Knoblock, his 3rd this season. The Fireflies raised their record to 86-49.

The Grasshoppers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Fireflies going into the bottom of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old center fielder Chris Wilske came to the plate. Wilske hit a 2-run home run on a 1-0 curveball from Greensboro hurler Matt McDuffy. It was Wilske's 7th home run of the year.

"Enjoyed this one," Brooks told the Columbia Observer. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
