Rome Downs Asheville, 2-1
|
Rome pitcher Jose Hernandez had a large part in his team subduing the Asheville Tourists, 2-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Rome, at 75-61, holds down third place in the Southern Division.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Ricardo Ramos? The Rome third baseman had a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put the Braves on top, 1-0. For the game, Ramos had 2 doubles and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"That's baseball," said Asheville manager Jarrod Dryman. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
