Getting offensive support from Garrett Basinger, the Charleston RiverDogs topped the Rome Braves, 4-3. Basinger was 2-3 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 runs for the RiverDogs. Archie Martin, now 2-8, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits in 5.2 innings. With the victory, the RiverDogs record now stands at 34-102.
Basinger had a game-changing double in the top of the eighth. On a 1-2 fastball from Brian Sells, he banged a run-scoring double to center, giving the RiverDogs a 4-3 lead. It was the 8th double of the year for Basinger.
"Winning is the only objective," said Basinger after the game.
