Charleston RiverDogs starter Marco Nieves hurled his team past the Hagerstown Suns, 6-1. The winning pitcher was Nieves, now 5-5. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. The setback makes Hagerstown 76-62.

Abraham Mendoza had a big 3-run home run for the RiverDogs in the bottom of the third inning. With Charleston leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a sinker from Melvin Vasquez, who is tied for 2nd in the SAL in wins with 13, and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the RiverDogs on top, 5-0.

"I was able to change speeds effectively tonight," said Nieves.
