In a well-pitched game between the Mahoning Valley Scrappers and the State College Spikes, pitcher Mario Pera was superb. The Mahoning Valley right-hander helped his team win, 1-0. State College drops to 4-3.

The Scrappers got a clutch hit from designated hitter Chris Cole. In the bottom of the ninth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Scrappers.

"Runs were at a premium," said Mahoning Valley manager Ramiro Tobar.
