Spikes Advance to Round 2

The State College Spikes are bound for the Round 2.
A 9-0 win over the Aberdeen Ironbirds at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park ended the Round 1, 3-1.
"We're not trying to get ahead of ourselves, but it's hard not to get pumped up and excited and think about how this season could end," said Tim Marshall. "This could be the biggest celebration State College has ever seen if we can win the Round 2."
The state of the New York-Penn League championship remains in doubt, but the Spikes certainly appear to be strong contenders.
Marshall was named MVP of the Round 1 after he posted a .462 batting average, while adding 0 home runs, driving in 4 RBI and scoring 1 runs.
The State College Spikes will play against the West Virginia Black Bears in the next round. West Virginia won their series against the Lowell Spinners 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.

Black Bears Advance to Round 2

The West Virginia Black Bears are on to the Round 2, having knocked out the Lowell Spinners 3-1.
The final blow came tonight at Edward A. LeLacheur Park, where West Virginia sealed the Round 1 with a 8-1 triumph.
Ryan Mueller was instrumental in the series win and was given MVP honors. Mueller hit .529 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 11 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The West Virginia Black Bears don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the State College Spikes - Aberdeen Ironbirds series. State College leads the series 2 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
