Pitcher Yuichi Nakatsu was sensational for the State College Spikes in his team's 4-1 triumph over the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. Nakatsu earned the win. Joey Tomaro earned the save for State College. The win puts State College at 4-3.

Cody Black, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2108 draft, had a direct impact on the outcome. Black contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put State College up, 2-0.

Black called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
