Hudson Valley got a first-rate effort from pitcher Gabe Helmcamp, who frustrated Vermont hitters en route to a 3-0 Renegades triumph at Dutchess Stadium. Helmcamp, now 2-0, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing no runs. Hudson Valley now has a record of 7-1.

In the bottom of the fifth, Leon Munoz delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and runners on 1st and 3rd, the Hudson Valley third baseman hit a run-scoring single, putting the Renegades in front, 3-0.

In comments to the Hudson Valley Bulletin, Helmcamp admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
