The Vermont Lake Monsters defeated the Hudson Valley Renegades, 11-3, at Dutchess Stadium. Leading the charge for Vermont was third baseman Manny Para. He was 3-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Cory Brunner, the winner, goes to 1-0. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 1 walk and 9 strikeouts over 7 innings. Gustavo Kramer had a big 3-run home run for the Lake Monsters in the top of the fifth inning. With Vermont leading 3-2 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Jayden Wilkins and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Lake Monsters on top, 6-2.
