The Connecticut Tigers stormed past the Brooklyn Cyclones, 19-6, at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium. Connecticut first basemanMatt Garduno , who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2106 draft, led the hit parade. He went 3-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 8. With the loss, Brooklyn is 3-6.

With Connecticut leading 8-4 in the bottom of the sixth, Garduno came up to bat against Brooklyn pitcher Luis Dominguez. Garduno hit a fastball to right for a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the Tigers on top, 12-4.

"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Garduno.
