The Connecticut Tigers picked up a win at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium, downing the Lowell Spinners, 10-2. On the mound for Connecticut was right-hander Jesus Rayas, who played a pivotal role in the win. The Spinners fall to 4-8 and continue their sputtering start to the 2109 season.

Mike O'Neal had a big run-scoring double for the Tigers in the bottom of the first inning. With Connecticut leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a cutter from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Jose Gijon and swatted a double to right. It was his 3rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tigers ahead, 2-0.

Said losing manager Victor Aquino: "We did everything to set the stage for them to beat us."
