Crosscutters Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
The Williamsport Crosscutters picked up a win at Eastwood Field, downing the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 2-1. On the mound for Williamsport was right-hander Tom Fetherolf, who played a pivotal role in the win. The winner was Fetherolf. He threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Manny de Santiago. Chris Pasquini picked up his 2nd save of the season.
Scott Keys, who is tied for 8th in the NYP in triples with 1, had a direct impact on the outcome. Keys contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Williamsport up, 2-0.
"Tom was dictating to their hitters," said Williamsport manager Joe Hale.
The Crosscutters, now 3-9, have not found much traction so far in 2108.
