Mahoning Valley Bats Quiet in 6-1 Loss
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters earned a win at Eastwood Field, stopping the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 6-1. Starting pitcher Larry Ruud played a big role in his team's success. In 7.1 innings, Ruud surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. The loss drops the Scrappers to 4-9.
Vermont used the timely hitting of David Moore to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lake Monsters on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm just trying to make sure I'm focused for each and every pitch," said Ruud.
