Auburn pitcher Sal Torrez did his part in helping his team defeat the Williamsport Crosscutters, 9-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Torrez went the distance for Auburn. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. The Crosscutters, at 3-10, have stumbled out of the gate.

Zach Byrne hit a 3-run home run off Ramon Pabtojas in the bottom of the first, which put the Doubledays ahead, 3-0. In addition to the homer, Byrne had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.

"I managed to get ahead of guys and keep them at bay," said Torrez.
