Spinners Run Win Streak to 7
|
The Lowell Spinners picked up a win at Edward A. LeLacheur Park, knocking off the Connecticut Tigers, 8-5. Starting pitcher Jack Hale was a big reason why. The winner was Hale. He threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Jesus Henriquez. Alexis Cordova finished to wrap up his 2nd save.
The Tigers had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Spinners going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old first baseman Evan Sowles came to the plate. Sowles hit a run-scoring double on a 1-0 fastball from Connecticut hurler Juan Colon. It was Sowles's 2nd double of the year.
"When Jack is on, he can really move the ball around," said Lowell manager .
Early on, the Spinners, at 11-3, have excelled.
