Lowell got a valiant performance from pitcher Melvin Arevalo, but it wasn't enough to beat the Vermont Lake Monsters. Vermont won the game, 8-4. Arevalo threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The win went to Jake Duba in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jaylen Moody took the loss. With the loss, Lowell falls to 3-11.

Vermont used the timely hitting of Roberto Soriano to capture the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lake Monsters on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but he made it count.

"We came out aggressive," said Lake Monsters manager Dana Joseph. "We came out swinging the bats."
