The Mahoning Valley Scrappers met little resistance from the Batavia Muckdogs, beating them, 11-2, at Dwyer Stadium. Paul Thiel led the way. He went 3-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for Mahoning Valley. Jonathan Perez was the winner. He's now 1-1. The loser was Cory O'Neill. Mahoning Valley is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 6th in 15 games.

With Mahoning Valley leading 9-2 in the top of the fifth, Thiel came up to bat against Batavia pitcher Stuart Fletcher. Thiel hit a changeup to center for a 2-run double. His 2nd double of the season put the Scrappers on top, 11-2.

"We didn't put our best foot forward tonight," said losing manager Randy Conrad.
