Muckdogs Edge Mahoning Valley in Pitching Duel
|
The Batavia Muckdogs, behind a great outing from Marty Brown defeated the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 1-0, at Dwyer Stadium. Brown got the win, improving to 1-1. He gave up 3 hits and walked 5 over 7 innings. He allowed no runs. The win takes Batavia to 9-6.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Muckdogs had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when second baseman Carlos Fuentes hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Tommie Depperman and made the score 1-0, Muckdogs. Fuentes was 1 for 3.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Mahoning Valley manager Ramiro Tobar, "let me know."
