Babe, Tri-City Prevail in Pitchers' Duel
|
Centennial Field featured a tense pitchers' duel.
The Tri-City ValleyCats got a magnificent performance from pitcher Brett Babe, who muffled the Vermont offense en route to a tight, 1-0 ValleyCats win at Centennial Field. Picking up the save was 22-year old left-handed pitcher Leonardo Alicea.
The ValleyCats liked what they saw from Babe. The 22-year- old pitcher had a commanding presence on the mound, limiting the Lake Monsters to no runs on 2 hits over 6 innings, and striking out 9.
"Tough win," said Babe. "We had to earn it."
With the victory, the ValleyCats upped their record to 10-7.
