The Batavia Muckdogs faced a tough opponent in West Virginia pitcher Manny Mejia, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Dwyer Stadium by a final score of 3-1. Mejia went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Batavia, with the win, climbs to 5-13.

Batavia took a 3-1 lead on Alex Fleming's 1st double of the season. The 2-run double, which Fleming hit in the bottom of the eighth, left West Virginia pitcher Raul Magallanez visibly frustrated.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said West Virginia skipper Ken Dugles, "and it cost us."
