The Vermont Lake Monsters weathered an outstanding game by Tri-City center fielder David Medina to topple the ValleyCats, 5-4. Medina went 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jon O'Connor got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The first-place Lake Monsters have a record of 12-7.

Tyler Clark came through with a big-time hit for Vermont. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"We've got a great group of guys," Clark said, "and we're having fun right now."
