Multi-HR Day for Schoolcraft as Lake Monsters Overpower ValleyCats, 9-1
|
With first baseman Jared Schoolcraft leading the charge, the Vermont Lake Monsters defeated the Tri-City ValleyCats, 9-1, at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. Schoolcraft, who is tied for 9th in the NYP in runs scored with 13, slugged 3 home runs. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3. Jay Loomis, the winner, improved to 1-1. He held the ValleyCats to 1 run on 3 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 1. The Lake Monsters move to 12-7 with the win, while the ValleyCats drop to 8-11.
The Lake Monsters got an important contribution from center fielder Eric Rizzotto, who in the top of the second hit a sinker into center for a run-scoring double. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Lake Monsters ahead, 1-0.
"Anytime we get it going, it puts a smile on my face," said Rizzotto.
