Ironbirds Hang 6-5 Loss on Cyclones
|
Though he had a terrific game, Jorge Rivera could not prevent his team, the Brooklyn Cyclones, from absorbing a loss. Aberdeen won the game, 6-5. Rivera went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. John Brown was the winner. He's now 2-2. The loser was 17-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Sloan. Aberdeen is now 12-8, while Brooklyn is 6-14.
Aberdeen used a well-timed hit by Franklin Rincon to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Ironbirds ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Aberdeen manager Jose Sierra.
