ValleyCats Cut Down Lake Monsters, 4-3
|
Tri-City registered a win at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium by beating the Vermont Lake Monsters, 4-3. Pitcher Wade Perry was one reason why the ValleyCats triumphed. Perry, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 3 walks. Tri-City is second in the Stedler Division with a record of 11-10.
Raul Romero had a big 2-run double for the ValleyCats in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Tri-City leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from 22-year old left-handed pitcher Rafael Acevedo and swatted a double to center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the ValleyCats ahead, 4-0.
After the game, Tri-City manager Eddie DiGiovine applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
