ValleyCats Knock Off Lake Monsters, 7-1
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Tri-City ValleyCats and Vermont Lake Monsters came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
Tri-City ValleyCats starter Scott Pauley was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Vermont Lake Monsters, 7-1. Pauley, the winner, moves to 2-1. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 1 walk. Egiodeo Romanelli recorded the save for Tri-City, his 1st of the season.
Tony Montoya had a big hit for Tri-City in the bottom of the second inning. With Tri-City leading 1-0, Montoya hit a 2-run double. It was his 7th double of the season and put the ValleyCats up, 3-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Tri-City manager Alex Ordonez.
The ValleyCats move to 10-11 with the win, while the Lake Monsters drop to 12-9.
