Scrappers Keep Streak Alive With 6-1 Win
|
The Scrappers grabbed a win, 6-1, at Edward A. LeLacheur Park, overcoming a fine effort from Lowell pitcher Jake Schafer. Schafer went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Peter Killion got the win, improving to 2-3. He held the Spinners to 1 run on 4 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 5. The wins continue to add up for Mahoning Valley. The latest makes it 9 in a row.
It could have been a different outcome for Mahoning Valley, had it not been for Ricky Portillo, the 25-year old third baseman . Portillo contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put Mahoning Valley up, 2-0.
"Right now, things are falling our way," said Mahoning Valley manager Jonathan Chaparro.
