Lake Monsters Suffer 6-4 Setback
Bobby Hughes did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Vermont Lake Monsters from losing, 6-4, to the Connecticut Tigers at Centennial Field. Hughes went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Reliever John Powers picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. Mike Loughridge took the loss. Getting the save was Zeke Carter, his 1st.

The outcome might have been different for Connecticut, had it not been for Felix Alejandro, the 21-year old shortstop . Alejandro stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put Connecticut up, 6-4. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Alejandro told the Connecticut Daily News.

The Lake Monsters, at 12-11, have lost 4 straight games.
