The Williamsport Crosscutters spoiled a good performance by Tri-City left fielder J.J. Martin, bumping off Tri-City, 8-6, at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. Martin was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The win was credited to Gus Perez in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Brian Penn took the loss. Alex Barrera earned the save for Williamsport, his 1st of the year.

Ben Purpura had a big bases-clearing triple for the Crosscutters in the top of the third inning. With Williamsport leading 2-1 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Zayar Kwakou and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Crosscutters ahead, 5-1.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Crosscutters manager Dave Croft. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."

Williamsport is now 10-14, Tri-City 12-12.
