Doubledays Procure 3-1 Victory
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Auburn Doubledays and the Vermont Lake Monsters, 26-year old right-handed pitcher Matt Norway was the difference-maker. The Auburn right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Norway yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-0. The losing skid has reached 6 games for Vermont.
The Doubledays got a big at-bat from right fielder Bret Ramsey. For the game, Ramsey went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Auburn a 3-1 lead.
"Matt was hitting his spots and everything had life," said Auburn manager Carlos Lugo.
