Lake Monsters Lose Contest, 8-3
Auburn right fielder Mike McDermott made his presence felt in the 8-3 Doubledays triumph over the Vermont Lake Monsters. McDermott went 3 for 5 with a triple and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Luis Ruiz picked up the win, lifting his record to 1-0 on the season. He struck out 7 and walked 0 in 5.2 innings, while yielding 3 runs. Auburn currently is in first place in the Pinckney Division at 18-8.

McDermott contributed a big hit, a bases-clearing triple, for Auburn in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 2-1, McDermott took a fastball from Jonathan Thomas and stroked the triple to right. His 3rd triple of the season allowed the Doubledays to leap in front, 4-2.

"We'll pocket this win," said McDermott, "and then go after another."
